Berkhamsted's mediæval High Street, which is part of the Roman Akeman Street linking Veralum (St. Albans) with Akemancester (Bath). 

Remains of the once important castle built by Robert de Mortain, brother of William the Conqueror. It was here that William the Conqueror was offered the crown of England following the battle of Hastings in 1066. Berkhamsted canal
