- EMERGING CORE STRATEGY - Dacorum Borough Council is consulting on the new Local Development Framework which will guide development of the Borough for the next 20 years or so. The Town Council has responded to the consultation which contains specific information about Berkhamsted. To read the Town Council's response please click here
- The Annual Report of the Town Council, including the financial reports for year ending March 31st 2009, was published on the 30th June 2009. Copies are available from the Town Council Office and the Library.
- Grants have recently been awarded to the newly formed Berkhamsted Football Club which is competing in the Spartan South Midlands Football League this season, to help with preparation and maintenance of the pitch at Broadwater. Also to Sunnyside Rural Trust as a contribution towards the costs of improving their activities in giving horticultural training to people with learning difficulties, and the Happy Wanderers Club for the Disabled to enable them to hire a wheelchair accessible coach. The Iain Rennie Hospice at Home have also been awarded £1000 towards the costs of training for their nurses and the 1066 Club for the Blind and Partially Sighted has received £100 to assist with room hire costs and mini bus charges. - A new Heritage Walk leaflet called 'A Glimpse of our History' which complements the Blue plaques on historic town buildings has been published. It is available from the Town Clerk's Office, the Library and other public places
- Consultation on the East of England Plan has now closed. Feedback will be given at a meeting in Cambridge on the 26th January 2010.
- The long awaited street lighting for Church Lane has now been approved by Hertfordshire County Council and the lights will be installed on the 12th February 2010.
- Having been informed by Dacorum Borough Council that they would no longer maintain the flower beds at Gossoms End, and would reduce the number of hanging baskets in the High Street to save costs, the Town Council has assumed responsibility. It has engaged Sunnyside Rural Trust to plant and maintain the flower beds, and Frank Cooper & Son Ltd to provide the hanging baskets between the traffic lights and the Post Office Sorting Office. If you have any comments on these facilities please let us know.
- As winter progresses the salt bins situated in various parts of the Town will be in more demand. If you find that they need filling please let us know and we will contact Hertfordshire Highways.
