Two great youth projects

 in one beautiful building

This wonderful old 16th Century Coaching Inn on Berkhamsted High Street is home to two very valuable projects for young people.  Most will know about the Swan Youth Centre which runs positive activities for young people from 12-18 years and is open most days with a variety of activities, but not so many of you will know much about the other project within the building, The Swan Foyer.

The two projects are run and funded totally separately and both have their own separate entrances.

The Swan Foyer, Aldwyck Housing Charity, is a two stage project for homeless young people aged 16-25 years, providing 10 bed-spaces with an intensive level of support and a further 8 bed-spaces for residents who are able to live semi independently.  A dedicated staff team offer support with basic skills, training, career guidance, education and job search on an individual basis. Emphasis is placed on enabling young people to develop their independent living skills.

Our commitment to providing a flexible person-centred package of support linked to quality accommodation, means we have been successful in helping a large number of young people develop an independent lifestyle.

Some of the recent personal achievements attained by our young people whilst living at the Swan Foyer include:

Winning the Entry to Employment Learner of the Year
Winning a Hertfordshire Youth Service Award
Nomination for a Youth Parliament Seat
University placements
Obtaining qualifications in First Aid Training, FA Learning Coaching Children, Child Protection
College courses
Employment
Volunteer Work
